The 2004 scholarship has been awarded to Ms Marjan Bovers. Marjan is a student in the department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utrecht and will spend three months at the University of Miami working in the division of Marine Biology and Fisheries. Marjan is the second recipient of the scholarship. Last year, Angie van Bemden a student at the University of Miami spent four months at the University of Nijmegen.

Marjan:
Going to a football game. In Holland they try not to cause a parking nuisance in the area around the stadium and streets are closed. Here the neighbours make money by letting you park in their yard. While in Miami I naturally would like to experience some of the hype around the presidential elections. So I attended a debate organized by the Democrats in the Miami Arena. It was fun to hear the response of the public on what Bush and Kerry had to say.
